Your Training Opportunities

SITA (Student Instructional Technology Assistants)

The SITA project is aimed at providing technology support to departments with few internal technology resources.  Read more about the SITA program here.

NExTT Workshops

NExTT stands for "New Experiences with Teaching Technology." This series of workshops is held in January and July/August for instructors and instructional support staff. Many of the sessions include ICON Training. Participants can choose to register for only those sessions they wish to attend.

• One-on-one consulting

You may drop in to UCC 2800 (Old Capitol Centre) at any time, or by appointment, and receive one-on-one assistance with a wide variety of technologies. You may keep a coach by your side, or use us to get started and use our computers to keep going on your own. Contact us by phone or e-mail (335-6043, annette-beck@uiowa.edu) to set up an appointment.

• Departmental/TA Training

Call us to set up a small-group training opportunity, either in our facility or in your department. We can quickly set up training in: ICON, website creation, PowerPoint, digital video, audio, etc.

The mission of Instructional Services at the University of Iowa is to support instructors and researchers who wish to integrate technology into their work. The term "instructors" also includes the hundreds of teaching assistants here at the University of Iowa and can be expanded to include support staff whose work directly impacts teaching. Therefore, Instructional Services offers workshops throughout the semester for TAs and Departments at the request of departments. Please contact Annette Beck (335-6043, annette-beck@uiowa.edu) for more information or to schedule a time.

• Campus-wide workshops

We offer workshops on a variety of topics throughout the year. These include training in and pedagogical tips for the use of ICON, PowerPoint, Dreamweaver, digital images and digital video, to name a few.
