Instructional Design Team

The Instructional Design (ID) team administers the University’s online course management system (ICON)  and explores and supports other pedagogically sound applications of technology.  Example projects include personal response systems (clickers), which quickly compile and publically display student feedback in a classroom situation; electronic portfolios, which help assess learner progress and program effectiveness; and Online@Iowa, which introduces incoming students to the University’s online resources through tutorial simulations.

Digital Media Solutions Team

The Digital Media Solutions (DMS) group supports collaboration technologies (such as Elluminate Live! and video conferencing) and 3D web services (including 3D modelilng and virtual worlds). DMS can also help instructors with a broad range of digital media needs including streaming media online, developing flash applications, and editing video.

SITA Program

Student Instructional Technology Assistants are graduate and undergraduate students who provide basic training and support to instructors on a variety of the technologies ITS-Instructional Services offers. SITAs work one-on-one with instructors to take course-related projects through the design and implementation phases and provide other group training opportunities.

Learning Spaces Technology Team

The Learning Spaces Technology (LST) team manages general assignment classroom technology and Instructional Technology Centers (ITCs) across campus.
LST answers on-the-spot questions about classroom technology via its hotline, 5-1976.
