The Application Development Group
The Application Development Group works with faculty to: (1) create innovative applications that enhance instruction, and (2) integrate technology into existing instructional solutions.
We recommend applications and hardware, collaborate with faculty in designing and implementing appropriate software solutions, and teach others to maintain these solutions. When we accept projects, we work diligently to make them happen. We can also assist with budgetary matters, e.g., grant requests. With our help, many projects that were beyond the range of faculty members’ individual capabilities have become realities. Some are featured in our Project Showcase.
Project Selection Criteria
The Application Development Group follows Campus Technology Services’ Project Criteria Guidelines in deciding if a project falls within the scope of our mission. A project has a good chance of being selected if it:
- enhances student learning,
- supports the University of Iowa’s teaching mission, and
- is an innovative and appropriate application of technology to teaching or learning.
If you have an idea—or the germ of an idea—for a project that could facilitate teaching, enhance student learning, or apply instructional technology in an innovative way, we want to hear from you. E-mail us at ITS-Academic@uiowa.edu or visit UCC 2800 Old Capitol Centre.
