One of the goals of AT-Research Services is to decrease the time investigators spend taking care of their computer systems. We work on this by promoting the use of existing system administration resources, such as those used to support administrative and instructional computing and by developing new infrastructures that best fit the needs of investigators with computational needs. Some examples of how we might assist with system administration include:
- Helping to identify datacenter space to house investigator's servers.
- Finding a central or collegiate IT unit to provide system administration for an investigator's servers.
- Teaching workshops on buildging linux clusters.
- Promote research oriented licensing such as the Red Hat Linux agreement.
- Providing a central cluster as an alternative to buying your own cluster.
