Collaborative Tools

Video Conferencing

In collaboration with ITS Video Services, Academic Technologies supports a number of video conferencing technologies. Our staff is available to consult on which video conferencing system to use and to assist in finding video conferencing resources. Visit the Video Services website to learn about production-level video conferencing services. The University of Iowa is a member of Internet 2 and has a subscription to the Internet 2 commons. Contact the I2 Commons coordinator to learn more about this resource.

Virtual Meeting ware

Academic Technologies supports Eluminate's virtual meetingware that allows moderator-led web-based meetings with options to shared data and applications and support coordinated voice or instant message discussions.

Data sharing

ITS supports a number of data sharing technologies through emerging services called "My Team" and "My Files". These services allow sharing data in a secure manner with individuals or groups with a variety of options for limiting access. AT Research Services staff are available to consult with researchers on the best way to use these technologies in their work.

CORN Project

ITS has a special project called "Collaborative tOols in Research and iNstruction". This project explores new collaborative tools technologies and evaluates the viability of potential infrastructures to support these tools on campus. CORN is a collaboration between AT Research Services and AT Instructional Services.

LoCI Logistical Storage Depot

ITS in collaboration with the Logistical Computing and Internetworking (LoCI) Laboratory is working to create a better way to transfer large data files over the internet.  LoCI is composed of hundreds of servers all over the world, each donating storage space toward the project.  By using these various storage depots LoCI is able to provide the ability to transfer large datasets over the internet, at a speed limited only by your own system.
