Partnerships and advisory roles
Membership
We are members of the Consortium for Academic Scientific Computing (CASC), a nonprofit organization of supercomputing centers and research universities that offer leading edge hardware, software, and expertise in high performance computing resources and “advanced visualization environments.” Founded in 1989, CASC has grown into a national association representing 40 centers and programs in 27 states.
AT Research Services participates in the Open Science Grid Consortium (OSG).
AT Research Services participates in the International Virtual Data Grid Laboratory. We have hardware resources installed on campus that serve as part of the computational grid for this project.
The University of Iowa is a member of Internet2. We have a subscription to the Internet2 Commons, a video conferencing resource. Internet 2 is a consortium being led by 207 universities working in partnership with industry and government to develop and deploy advanced network applications and technologies, accelerating the creation of tomorrow's Internet.
Advisory
The Academic Technologies Advisory Council (ATAC) is an advisory group for Academic Technologies and periodically reviews the activites of Research Services.
As a central research support facility, we receive support from the Office of the Vice President for Research. We also periodically provide reports to the Research Council.
