UI Faculty Collaborations
MicroCT Laboratory
Professor Ge Wang, Radiology
This project focuses on how to use HPC and Grid technologies to solve medical-image related problems. AT RS Staff member, Jun Ni, a Computational Scientist, can be contacted for more information on this project. need link to web page This is part of the GROW project.
GeoStatistics
Professor Kate Cowles, Statistics and Actuarial Science
Professor Marc Armstrong, Geography
The purpose of this research project is to develop Grid-based spatial statistics middleware (GSSM) that incorporates knowledge about statistical algorithms and the geographical distribution of particular datasets; this middleware will reside between existing generic Grid middleware and conventional spatial statistics applications. This is a GROW project
CMS Physics Grid
Professor Yasar Onel, Physics and Astronomy
The purpose of this project is to prototype a Tier-2 physics Grid center at The University of Iowa, research and develop Grid-based collaborative tools and analysis tools for supporting high-energy physics experiments A GROW project
NMITA Database
Professor Nancy Budd
Professor Tom Foster
NMITA is a project that manages an on-line database that contains images and information on taxa collected as part of the large multi-taxa fossil sampling programs. ITS is developing both static and dynamic database search tool and will provide web-services that complies with the standard such as 'Darwin Core'.
