9:00-10:25 — ICON Orientation/Communication Tools
This will be a general overview of ICON. What does ICON have to offer? How does one get a course site? How does ICON integrate with other UI systems? This will include a tour of some demonstration course sites and an introduction to the support website found at icon.uiowa.edu. Learn the basics about how ICON works and how to use its basic functions, such as discussion boards, assignment dropbox, pager and file locker. Come ready with questions.

10:30-Noon — ICON Grades
Build a simple gradebook in ICON to record, calculate, and display grades to students. Participants will create a basic gradebook in three steps that will allow them to average grades on a weighted, points or formula system, create categories for group items (quizzes, exams, etc.), and calculate and display the final grade. Other topics will include dropping low/high grades in categories, creating grade schemes to display letter grades, and importing/exporting grades to Excel and OSIRIS. Time will be allotted for hands-on work and temporary practice sites will be available.

Learn how to place content and links into your course site. Time will be allotted for hands-on work and temporary practice sites will be available.

2:00-2:55 — ICON LOR (Learning Object Repository)
ICON's Learning Object Repository (LOR) can help you can share course content files with other instructors and between ICON courses. This shared and searchable digital repository can also help conserve University server space and enable efficient course updating across semesters. Come to this hands-on session to learn how the LOR works and for coached help on integrating its features into your ICON courses! 
3:00-3:55 — PowerPoint for ICON and the Web
Learn how to best utilize PowerPoint in your online coursework. Subjects include reducing file size to improve user experience, methods of saving PowerPoint presentations for use in ICON, and ways to add narration to your show. Coaches will be available to answer questions. (Those interested in narration, creating videos with PowerPoint, etc. might also want to sign up for the Digital Media session on Tuesday afternoon, which will focus more closely on these issues.)
4:00-4:55 — ICON Rubrics and Competencies
This session will provide an overview of and opportunity to work with the new rubrics & competencies tools, which will be available for the fall semester.

9:00 - 10:25 - Instructional Services Overview
Learn about how Instructional Services can partner with you and assist you with your instructional needs. Meet representatives from the Instructional Design Team, Digital Media Solutions Group, ICON Support Team, Learning Spaces Team, and the SITA Program Team.
10:30-Noon — Media in ICON (Going to renamed and description will be different)
Digital Media Solutions staff members Greyson Purcell and Steve Tomblin will demonstrate ways instructors can utilize third- party products like Articulate and Captivate to produce rich media versions of their PowerPoint presentations. Video will also be a primary focus — learn how you can use audio and video in your sites, as well as some tricks to identify and overcome common problems.
1:00-1:55 — Manipulating Images, Preparing images for the web, print, etc.
Learn how to crop, resize, and save images for different uses. Using Photoshop, also learn how to feather images and do other special effects.
2:00-2:55 — Dreamweaver
Learn the basics of creating and maintaining a web site using Dreamweaver. This includes: getting something online, using tables, libraries and templates for site management. Time will be allotted for hands-on work and temporary practice sites will be available.
3:00-3:55 — Dreamweaver for ICON
Dreamweaver is a powerful tool to create web sites, but it can also be used in conjunction with ICON to manage/create your course files. Time will be allotted for hands-on work and temporary practice sites will be available.
4:00-5:00 — Image Editing/Web Development Free Work Time
How many times have you wanted to work on a project and have coaches standing by to help? This is your chance to work on your Dreamweaver/Fireworks/Photoshop project.

Interested in incorporating online quizzes and surveys into your class? Learn about question types, grading options, and delivery methods. Security issues will also be addressed. Time will be allotted for hands-on work and temporary practice sites will be available.
3:00-3:55 — Advanced ICON Homepages and Content Display
In this presentation, instructors can find out how to create ICON course homepages with dynamic content that connects their ICON site more closely to the material in their courses. They will also learn how to use some of the advanced customization features in the ICON Content section to make their material more accessible—and attractive—to students. Time will be allotted for hands-on work and temporary practice sites will be available.
