ViDe: Video Development Initiative Annual Conference

The Video Development Initiative (ViDe) organization promotes the deployment of digital video in research and higher education through promotion and development of interoperable, standardized, and cost-effective technologies. ViDe is recognized for developing the ViDe Video Conferencing Cookbook - recognized by industry and higher education as the premier "how-to" manual for getting started with Internet videoconferencing, H.350 Directory Services Architecture for Multimedia Conferencing, and the annual ViDe Conference that brings together educators, technologists, librarians, archivists and policymakers to discuss a broad range of issues relating to the development and deployment of video-over-IP in higher education.

This year’s ViDe conference, "The Whole Shebang: Converged Communication Technologies in the Campus Information Ecosystem - Are We There Yet?," focused on converged collaboration, conferencing, voice, and media in the networked, web and mobile environments. Larry Johnson, CEO of the New Media Consortium (NMC), gave the keynote address where he described the NMC’s efforts to explore virtual spaces. Other conference sessions covered activities taking place on campuses that relate to merging communication technologies into an integrated, seamless and ubiquitous information ecosystem. For more information visit the ViDe conference website.
