Access Grid is unique in that you can have multiple cameras displaying video and you can receive multiple video feeds. This means that you can have a video conference with 10, 20, 50 or more different sites at the same time. The technology was invented at Argonne National Laboratory, Chicago, IL. As of 2005 there are well over 500 nodes around the world that allow for various forms of creative and academic collaborations. |

Tour of the Personal Access Grid Interface |
Overview
This is a very basic introduction to the Personal Access Grid tools. More detailed information can be found on the Access Grid website, but this should provide you with enough information to get started.
Venue Client
The Venue Client is your main control screen. Shut this down and all of your Access Grid sessions go with it. Here you can go to the venue where you and your colleagues will be meeting, text message each other, share data, and/or turn on/off your audio, video and display options. |
|
RAT Control
The RAT control allows you to adjust your sound options. You can adjust how loud you sound to others as well as how you hear other people in the meeting. If you click options this will give you the ability to chose which sound device you want to use (very important) as well as other options that are displayed or affect other participants. |
|
Lobby
The Lobby displays everyone who is in your meeting area. Here you can mute specific people or click their screen to see a larger sized image of their display. Once you click on a video window, you can place it anywhere on your screen that best suits you. |
